This initiative enabled businesses, particularly in Nigeria, to source products efficiently without physical travel, delivering continuity, confidence, and value in a period of uncertainty.

Dr. Maryam is a visionary leader and accomplished intellectual entrepreneur, distinguished by her exceptional blend of strategic insight, disciplined execution, and an enduring commitment to continuous learning. From an early stage, she demonstrated remarkable ability by excelling academically while actively engaging in business ventures, laying a strong foundation for her future as a global business leader.
Her pursuit of excellence led her to China, where she obtained her doctoral degree and developed a bold vision of integrating academia, enterprise, and cross-cultural collaboration. Immediately following her PhD completion in 2020, she established Fuzhou IMMA International Trading Company Ltd., a dynamic enterprise specializing in sourcing, procurement, logistics, and efficient doorstep delivery of Chinese products to international markets.
Building on this success, Dr. Maryam co-founded NIGTAN Limited in 2022, where she now provides strategic leadership across diverse sectors, including agriculture, food processing and packaging, education, and international trade. Under her direction, the company continues to expand its footprint and influence across key markets.
Dr. Maryam’s multidisciplinary expertise is grounded in a strong academic background, holding qualifications in Agriculture (B. Agriculture), Animal Science with specialization in Food Product Processing and Packaging (M.Sc.), and Food Science and Engineering with a focus on bio-packaging development (Ph.D.). Complemented by her experience in the banking and telecommunications industries, university teaching, research, women and youth empowerment initiatives, and extensive international exposure, she brings a rare combination of technical depth, strategic leadership, and practical business acumen. With over three decades of trading experience and strong multilingual capabilities, she is strategically positioning NIGTAN as a vital bridge connecting markets in China, Nigeria, Tanzania, and beyond, facilitating sustainable trade, innovation, and economic growth.

Dr. Mgelwa's multidisciplinary expertise is grounded in his role as the Acting Head of Quality Assurance at Mwalimu Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology (MNUAT). He brings a rare combination of technical depth and practical business acumen to the leadership team, ensuring that NIGTAN's expansion remains environmentally sound and scientifically rigorous.
